“Why Plywood?”

Introducing our new all plywood chair. First question you may ask, “Why plywood?”

  1. There are simply fewer joints. When viewed from the side, one piece of plywood eliminates the need for four, highly stressed connections, namely, the front leg to chair rail joints and the rear leg to chair rail joints.
  2. This is no ordinary plywood. We use 1" thick (25 mm), 18-ply birch plywood. Our 4-person shop has more experience milling, joining, sanding, and finishing plywood than we care to admit.
  3. Tyler loves furniture designs that most consider timelessly modern. I feel that our plywood dining chairs will excite for many years to come and I hope you do too.
joints Joinery
We went an extra mile to ensure strength and longevity. Our chairs are joined with precision-cut mortise and tenon joints, 30 of them actually.

Our chair sides and stretchers are colored with custom-mixed, water-soluble dyes. They are then sprayed with 3 coats of clear, satin, pre-catalyzed lacquer.
