Maple is hard, heavy, and durable. It has a tight closed grain.
Oak is hard, heavy, and durable. Its open grain is very scratch and dent resistant.

 

"My father is very old school. He likes roll-top desks and large wooden tables on which he can spread his work out. He likes mantle windup clocks and wooden filing cabinets. He's never sent an email in his life and still think talking to someone long distance is a big deal. He also keeps copious notes on what ever crazy idea that pops into his head on 3 x 5 ruled note cards. Last week I Googled something that was not wood related, but came across your website. Recipe Box

We now have 6 models of recipe boxes to choose from. They are built to last generations. The corner joints are glued, then reinforced with walnut or cherry splines. We offer our recipe boxes in two sizes; one to fit 3" X 5" index cards and the other to fit 4" X 6" index cards.

Our recipe boxes are hand finished with salad bowl oil. Each model is designed to hold 700 recipe cards.

Our recipe card boxes are excellent housewarming or wedding gifts.
